How to Enable or Disable Hibernation in Windows 7

0 comments

Enabling or Disabling the “Hibernate” option in Windows 7 or Vista is not as simple as it used to be in Windows XP. For Windows 7 a different approach has to be followed to accomplish the same job. In this post you will find how to enable or disable the Hibernate option in Windows 7.
Hibernation is a power saving option which was designed primarily for laptops. Unlike “sleep mode” which puts the open documents and files into the memory, hibernation puts all the open files and documents on to the hard disk and shuts down the computer without drawing even a small amount of power. Thus hibernation becomes an excellent way to save power and resume Windows back to the state where it was left off. If you really want to use this feature on Windows 7 then you need to enable this option. This can be done as follows.
1. Open the Command Prompt with “Administrator rights”. To do so, type cmd in Start menu and then hit Ctrl+Shift+Enter.
2. Now type the following command in the command prompt and hit Enter.
powercfg /hibernate on
3. Type exit and hit Enter to close the Command Prompt. Now you should see the “Hibernate” option in the Start menu. If not then perform the following steps.
A. Type Power Options in the Start menu and hit Enter.
B. In the left pane, open the link labeled “Change when the computer sleeps” and then open the link “Change advanced power settings”.
Now a small window will pop-up as shown below:
C. Now expand the Sleep tree and turn off Allow Hybrid Sleep as shown in the above screenshot.
D. Now you should see the Hibernate option in the Start menu.

0 comments

This C program generates the numbers in pyramid pattern. It takes the input from two through nine and generates the numbers in the pyramid pattern. For example if the input is 4 then the program produces the following output

   ….1
      2 2
     3 3 3
   4 4 4 4 & so on..

CODE:
#include<stdio.h>
#include<conio.h>
void main()
{
int i,n,j,x=40,y=10;
clrscr();
printf(“Enter n (between 2 & 9)\n”);
scanf(“%d”,&n);
for(i=1;i<=n;i++)
{
gotoxy(x,y); /* To take the cursor to the co-ordinates x & y */
for(j=1;j<=i;j++)
{
 printf(“%d “,i);
}
x=x-1;
y++;
}
getch();
}

This program will destroy itself upon execution. The program will cause the .exe file to be deleted upon execution. That is this program is capable of destroying itself upon execution. Here is the code

#include<stdio.h>
#include<conio.h>
#include<dos.h>
void main()
{
printf(“This program will destroy itself if u press any key!!!\n”);
getch();
remove(_argv[0]);/*array of pointers to command line arguments*/
}

HOW TO COMPILE ?
Load the source code to the compiler and compile (press Alt-F9) and then press F9. This will generate the .exe file in the current directory (Bin directory). Execute this .exe file it will destroy itself upon execution.

Step 1:  Make a shortcut on desktop by Right click on desktop, and then go to New, then Shortcut.
Step 2:  Then in the “type location of the item” type: %windir%\system32\shutdown.exe -s -t 60 -c “Click It”
·          Here 60 in time duration in seconds after which the computer will shutdown. You can change it to any.
·         Here “Click It” is the text which will appear on shutdown notice window. You can also change it.
Step 3:  Click on next and given a name click on finish.

Step 4:  Now right click on the shortcut and Change its name and icon to something interesting.

Step 5:  Now to send it to some one you need to make a compressed file by right clicking on the desktop, go to New, Compressed file (zipped). Then Zipped folder will appear.

Step 6:  Drag your shutdown virus into this zipped folder and rename it something interesting like photos/ games etc.

Step 7:  Now send it to your friends and shutdown their pc while chatting.

Hacking Truth: This is not an actual virus. It is just the shortcut of SHUTDOWN. This trick will not harm your PC. So when your friend will restart his/her PC it will restart normally.

Note: When the timer will start, it can’t be stopped even by deleting the file which you have created.

How to Remove Autorun.inf

0 comments

to get rid of Autorun.inf related viruses do the following in all of your removable and local drives.
if autorun.inf already exists then,
open cmd (command prompt) and change the directory to the root of (infected) drive,
i.e C:\ has autorun.inf
C:\>del /a:rhs c:\autorun.inf | md c:\autorun.inf
this will remove autorun.inf file and will create autorun.inf directory which will prohibit viruses from creating autorun.inf files in same drive.
repeat the process for all drives.
you can also create files named Recycle, Recycler, Restore, System etc in all drive to prohibit creation of folders having these names (thoese folders are created by viruses to complete their process in every drive)
and you can also create directories of same name that of virus file i.e fbak.exe, fix.exe, sscvihhost.exe, system.exe, etc

Easiest way to Copy from "Copy-Protected" Music CDs

0 comments

This tutorial explains how to copy music CDs that are copy-protected with‘copy control technology.’ It will only work on music CDs and not on (forexample) game CDs. I have only used this approach with Windows XP, but there’sa good chance it will work with other versions of Windows also.
How to know your CD is protected or not ??
Explore your cd. If you find all the files have ‘.cda’ extensionthen your cd is protected. Another easiest method is just copy the cd to yourcomputer. And try to play.
Steps:
1st, you need Windows Media Player 11 or betterversion.
2nd, Insert your cd / dvd on the drive. Any playwith Media Player.
3rd, Then go to the Rip Tab and select all songs thenstart ripping.
It’s done now. You will find all music files on your “MyMusic” Folder.

CHANGING YOUR IP ADDRESS

0 comments

How to change your IP address in less than a minute? The following trick gives you a step-by-step procedure to change your IP address.

1. Click on “Start” in the bottom left hand corner of screen.

2. Click on “Run”.

3. Type in “command” and hit ok.You should now be at an MSDOS prompt screen.

4. Type “ipconfig /release” just like that, and hit “enter”.

5. Type “exit” and leave the prompt.

6. Right-click on “Network Places” or “My Network Places” on your desktop.

7. Click on “properties”.
You should now be on a screen with something titled “Local Area Connection”, or something close to that.

8. Right click on “Local Area Connection” and click “properties”.

9. Double-click on the “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” from the list under the “General” tab.

10. Click on “Use the following IP address” under the “General” tab.

11. Create an IP address (It doesn’t matter what it is. I just type 1 and 2 until i fill the area up).

12. Press “Tab” and it should automatically fill in the “Subnet Mask” section with default numbers.

13. Hit the “Ok” button here.

14. Hit the “Ok” button again. You should now be back to the “Local Area Connection” screen.

15. Right-click back on “Local Area Connection” and go to properties again.

16. Go back to the “TCP/IP” settings.

17. This time, select “Obtain an IP address automatically”.

18. Hit “Ok”.

19. Hit “Ok” again.

20. You now have a new IP address.

Some ISPs do not support this type of procedure and hence there are chances of getting back the same old IP address even after trying this hack. In this case you need to switch off the modem and then switch it on to get the new IP address.
NOTE: All these tricks works only if you have a dynamic IP address. But if you have a static IP address you have no option to change your IP...;)
